I Hit You Because I Love You

PHYSICAL ABUSE

When asked why she put up with several years of bashing, thrashing and lashing she always replied “I always thought he beats me because he loves me, well that is what he often tells me when he puts on the bandages over my injuries or visits me at the hospital.

This case of physical abuse is one of the worst yet most popular cases of abuse known worldwide, physical abuse and gender-based violence against, men, women, and children.

Sadly either as a strange twist of luck or odd conditioning of the abused mind: most abused see their abusers assault as a show of love

Eden had been married to Peter for ten years, and their case was a case of sweet and sour love, even while they were dating Peter had already been adopting lashing out and thrashing his then-girlfriend who happens to be his present wife as a hobby and interestingly as his expression of love.

A broken skull, a fractured rib and many other forms of lacerations after a bout of their almost thrice in a week fights and arguments, many of which have been settled by neighbors, family members and indeed their pastors and church leaders.

When asked why he resorts to violence when dealing with his wife, Peter insists he will instead ‘correct his wife in love’ rather than chase her away, hence the beatings, beatings he called a correction.

Could it be that both couple: the abused and the abuser, the bashed and the basher, the victim and the victimizer, the innocent and the guilty, could it be that they are in love or could they be victims of a flawed but conditioned mind: a mind conditioned by years of violence, subjugation, and intimidation.

The question on everyone’s lips is how a trained professor could call years of abuse, a sign of love.
